Nebraska Volleyball Sweeps No. 12 Oregon: Perfect at 24 and 0

24 and 0. They did it in somebody else’s building, in front of more people than Matthew Knight Arena had ever seen for volleyball.
No. 1 Nebraska volleyball swept No. 12 Oregon 25 to 13, 25 to 16, 25 to 20 Saturday night in Eugene to stay unbeaten and run its regular season winning streak to 55. A sold-out, school-record 12,364 showed up. The Huskers still needed only 1 hour and 36 minutes.
The Ducks never found a foothold
Nebraska hit .425, the fifth time this season the Huskers have cleared .400. Oregon hit .152.
The first set was a statement. Nebraska jumped out to a 7 to 1 lead, pushed it to 15 to 7 at the media timeout on a Virginia Adriano kill. Oregon never tied it and never led. Bergen Reilly put the set away with a kill.
The second was more of the same. Nebraska built an 8 to 2 lead. After Oregon cut the margin to 12 to 9, the Huskers extended it to 19 to 9. A Reilly kill, an Oregon error and a Harper Murray ace made it 23 to 13, and Teraya Sigler helped close it … a kill, then a block with Reilly and Manaia Ogbechie. Nebraska hit .350 and held Oregon to .095.
Murray and Sigler did the damage
Murray and Sigler powered it with 14 kills apiece, hitting .481 and .458. Adriano added 11 kills on .500. Andi Jackson had nine kills on .368 and ended the night with her ninth, the sweep winner.
Reilly’s sixth double-double of the season ran the show: 43 assists and 11 digs, plus three kills. Olivia Mauch led the defense with 13 digs. Laney Choboy added 12.
Oregon’s best was Alanah Clemente. She hammered 16 kills on .282, more than half of the Ducks’ 30 as a team. In the third set she strung together consecutive kills to put Oregon ahead 11 to 10.
The third was the only one that felt like a match
A Sigler kill made it 7 to 4. Oregon tied it at 8, and Clemente’s back-to-back kills flipped it to 11 to 10. Nebraska answered and held 15 to 14 at the media timeout. Clemente pulled Oregon back within one, then the Huskers scored four straight to 20 to 15. Oregon got within three. Jackson finished it.
Sigler had eight of her 14 kills in that third set alone.
Head coach Dani Busboom Kelly is now 23 and 1 against ranked teams at Nebraska and 65 and 28 against them in her career. This is the program’s eighth 24 and 0 start. The road and neutral streak is up to 26, tied for eighth in NCAA history and tied for second in program history.
