53 straight. Nobody in Nebraska volleyball history has done that.

No. 1 Nebraska beat Michigan 26 to 28, 25 to 20, 25 to 20, 25 to 14 Friday night in Ann Arbor to move to 22 and 0 and take the program record for consecutive regular season wins outright. The old mark of 52 stood since 2004 and 2005. This team had to lose a set first to break it.

A sold out gym and a lost first set

12,707 packed Crisler Center, only the second sellout for volleyball there ever. It matched the crowd from Nebraska’s last trip to Ann Arbor in 2025.

Michigan made them feel it. The Wolverines hit .465 in the first set and went up 23 to 19. Nebraska clawed back from 24 to 20 to tie it, saved six set points in all, and still dropped it 28 to 26.

Then the Huskers held Michigan to .261, .171 and .214 the rest of the way.

Five Huskers in double figures

Nebraska hit .412, its fourth match at .400 or better this season, and outkilled Michigan 68 to 56. Five Huskers reached double digit kills, something that’s happened only 12 times in the rally scoring era and not since 2021.

Harper Murray led with 16 kills in her hometown (she’s from Ann Arbor!), her 22nd career match with 15 or more.

Virginia Adriano set a career high with 14 kills on .500. Over her last four matches she has 48 kills on .434 hitting.

Andi Jackson passed 1,000 career kills with 13 on .455. She’s the 13th Husker to get there in the rally scoring era, and only Sarah Pavan, Lauren Stivrins and Melissa Elmer had also reached 1,000 kills and 400 blocks.

Teraya Sigler posted the second double double of her career with 12 kills and 12 digs, plus three blocks. Manaia Ogbechie had 11 kills on .500 and a team high four blocks.

Bergen Reilly ran it all with 58 assists, nine digs and two aces. Olivia Mauch led the defense with 13 digs and Laney Choboy added seven.

Michigan’s problem was Ella Demetrician. She hammered 21 kills with 13 digs. Cymarah Gordon added 16.

How it turned

Reilly’s back to back aces broke a 6 all tie in the second set, and Nebraska never trailed again in it.

The third was the swing. Michigan led 10 to 7 before Sigler served four straight points. From 14 all she had a hand in five straight Husker points, three kills and two blocks with Ogbechie, to make it 20 to 16.

The fourth was a runaway. Mauch served a 4 to 0 start, Jackson served four straight with an ace to make it 13 to 6, and Ogbechie ended it with a kill. Gabby DiVita, from Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., even got a kill off the bench.

The road streak is now 24 straight, tied for 11th in NCAA history and the longest in the country since Nebraska’s own 24 in 2015 and 2016.
