Nebraska Volleyball Sweeps Maryland: 46 Straight, and Andi Jackson's Six Aces Tie a Record

Nebraska’s regular-season winning streak went on the road for the second time in three days and came back at 46. No. 1 Nebraska swept Maryland 25-13, 25-20, 25-15 Saturday night at the XFINITY Center, two nights after the streak survived Penn State, and Andi Jackson served six aces to tie a program record.
The question after Thursday’s sweep of Penn State was whether the streak would hold through a second road match this week. It did. The Huskers are 15-0 and 4-0 in the Big Ten, and have won 22 straight in road and neutral-site matches, tied for 12th all-time in the NCAA and the longest nationally since 2011.
Six aces
Jackson had 12 kills on .455 hitting, six aces, five blocks and four digs. Her six aces in a three-set match tie a rally-scoring era program record, matching Annika Albrecht in 2015, Michelle Lynch in 2004 and Anna Schrad in 2002.
Her serving drove the match. In the first set Nebraska used a 6-0 run with Jackson on the line, and Laney Choboy capped four straight points with an ace to make it 20-10. A kill and an ace by Jackson gave Nebraska set point at 24-12. In the third, three aces and a kill from Jackson were part of a six-point run that turned a 7-5 Maryland lead into an 11-7 Nebraska lead.
How it got there
Maryland led at some point in every set. It went up 6-5 in the first, 14-12 in the second and 7-5 in the third, after Nebraska had trailed 4-0.
The Huskers answered each time. They closed the second set on a 13-6 run after Maryland’s 14-12 lead, including a 7-0 run to go up 23-16. In the third, they held Maryland to three kills.
Nebraska hit .278 and held Maryland to .117. The Huskers led 32-23 in kills, 34-31 in digs and 8-3 in blocks.
The people
Teraya Sigler had eight kills on .429 hitting with three digs and two aces, and Ryan Hunter and Harper Murray each had six kills. Campbell Flynn had 35 assists, eight digs, four blocks and two kills, and Olivia Mauch led the team with 10 digs. Skyler Pierce closed the match with her third kill of the night.
The crowd
The crowd of 15,127 was a women’s volleyball attendance record at the XFINITY Center. It is the 25th venue attendance record Nebraska volleyball has been part of since 2023, and the fifth this season.
Maryland falls to 11-4 and 1-3 in the Big Ten. Nebraska’s series lead stands at 22-1, and the Huskers have now beaten the Terrapins 22 times in a row.
Next is a trip to No. 15 Indiana on Thursday, Oct. 8. First serve is 5:30 p.m. CT on BTN in Bloomington. Husker Nation, that match tells us whether a 46-match regular-season streak holds through a third road match in eight days.
