Creighton Has Never Beaten Nebraska. It Keeps Taking Them to Five Anyway.
Husker fans, this is one of the strangest rivalries in college volleyball.
Creighton has never beaten Nebraska. Not once in 24 official meetings. And it keeps getting to a fifth set anyway.
No. 1 Nebraska (7-0) hosts No. 20 Creighton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT at a sold-out Pinnacle Bank Arena, on BTN.
24-0, and closer than that sounds
Nebraska is 24-0 all-time against the Bluejays. Two of those wins came in 1980, before Creighton dropped the sport. Since the program came back in 1994, it’s 22-0.

Three five-setters in four years. The fifth sets finished 15-9, 15-10 and 15-9. The streak has been close lately — and it has never ended.
How the last three went five
2022, Omaha. No. 2 Nebraska won the first two sets against No. 17 Creighton. Creighton took the next two, 27-25 and 25-17. Nebraska won the fifth 15-9 in front of 15,797, at the time the NCAA’s regular-season attendance record.
2024, Lincoln. Same shape. No. 5 Nebraska went up two sets on No. 9 Creighton. Then Creighton won a 33-31 third set and a 25-16 fourth. Nebraska closed it 15-10.
2025, Omaha. No. 1 against No. 18, in front of 17,675 — an NCAA record for an indoor regular-season match. Creighton won the second and fourth sets, then opened the fifth with back-to-back aces. Nebraska won it 15-9.
Plenty of that night is still on the roster. Harper Murray had 17 kills, Andi Jackson had 13 on .400 hitting, and Bergen Reilly had 43 assists and 19 digs — all three seniors now. Virginia Adriano added 13 kills.
The one that doesn’t count
In April the two played a spring exhibition at Creighton’s D.J. Sokol Arena. Nebraska won the three regular sets, 25-19, 25-18 and 25-15. Then they played a bonus fourth set, and Creighton won it 25-15.
It isn’t on the record. It’s still the last set these two teams played.
Why Wednesday is its own thing
Nebraska has dropped exactly one set this season. Georgia Tech took the first on Saturday, 26-24, and then Nebraska won the next three going away.
Creighton comes in off a 1-2 weekend at the Rice Invitational, with losses to No. 5 Louisville and Rice, and five spots lower in the poll than a week ago.
And it’s Lincoln: the Blackshorts’ only regular-season match at Pinnacle Bank Arena this year, with every seat sold.
Twenty-four meetings say Nebraska wins. The last three say it won’t be easy.
